When Irish Eyes are Smiling

Our trip to Ireland was awesome! We got there bright and early Friday morning and didn’t wait to start exploring any sites. I was kind of worried because Ian and I had both been really sick that week but we didn’t really notice it while we were on our adventure!

We visited the southwest corner of the country, specifically, Counties Clare, Kerry, and Cork. Our first stop was to the Cliffs of Moher. It was very foggy and rainy but that didn’t dampen the spirit or our moods at all. The Cliffs are really beautiful and the boys loved it and didn’t want to leave. We got to hike around a bit and in general it was a great time.

We aren’t the people to stay off the grass and we walked right through fields of the thick green stuff! Ireland really is as green as they say. Something I always tell the boys is to look around and look at everything and really try and take pleasure in everything they see. We were finding cool slugs, earthworms, cool greenery, when I started looking at the patch of clovers. I just mentioned how cool it would be to find a 4-leaf clover in Ireland of all places and moments later Ian did! I think “holy shit” is what fell out of my mouth and Drew said some other explicatives. It was just the irony of the situation and never in a million years think that would happen. The kids knew we were happy! We have pressed it in a book and our now looking for that perfect frame to put it in.

We spent the day there and afterwards went in and checked into our hotel. It was in a pretty good location and was super nice. I wish we would have bought our swimming suits as they had an awesome indoor pool, but no luck there. Here are some pictures of the first day!

Ahh, Ireland. One day I have to visit it again. I was there with my mother when I was a teenager (about 12 or 13 years ago I think). We where driving around the cost of the whole island (except for Northern Ireland) staying in a different bed and breakfast each night. Was really fun. Oh and I have seen the cliffs too of course :-).

Hey Sara - now this is definitely on my places to see list - my maternal grandmother was Irish and my partners mum is Irish too, so it would be great to explore the place. Love your pics!
